What's the difference between an alpine tundra and an arctic tundra?
The Arctic tundra is a treeless area in Arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs. The arctic tundra also has very limited drainage.
The Alpine tundra is large, flat or gently sloping, treeless tracts of land above the timberline. The alpine tundra is well drained.
